We have had a great first few days back getting to know your children and working with them on their group names for the year. Each group has chosen a scientist or inventor and researched some information and presented this to the whole year group. Our group names are: Leonardo Da Vinci, Stephanie Kwolek, Nikola Tesla, Louis Pasteur, Benjamin Franklin and Sir Tim Berners-Lee.

Although we did not win the final, the girls were amazing with many displays of skill and teamwork. Dylan thought they played so well, he bought them some sweets. Thanks to Paige’s mum for washing the kit and all the support for the girls.
Here is a photo of some of the children in Year 4 in their costumes. Thank you for taking the time to dress them up and for coming into school to enjoy a picnic lunch with them.
Yesterday we had a visit from two very special babies to help us with our PSHCE lessons about how to care for babies. Fortunately both of our guests were very well behaved and their mums were able to answer all of our questions. We really enjoyed meeting our special guests.
Last Friday was our Chinese Day and we had great fun with lots of different activities like painting willow pattern plates, creating a Chinese dragon dance, learning to speak a few words in Chinese, making a shadow puppet, making a lantern and tasting different Chinese teas. Thank you all for sending your children in with fantastic costumes. We all had a great day!
Here are some of our pagodas we built for homework.
Thank you for all your support with our stall at the Christmas Fayre. Many of you will know how competitive I am and probably had your arm twisted to buy some of our delicious coconut ice! We raised an incredible £90 just on our stall so we were feeling very proud today. All the money raised goes into the big school trip in September
Mrs Wells and I were very proud of everyone in Year 4 for their fantastic celebration assembly. We hope you enjoyed it and would like to thank you all for coming and supporting the children.
Just before half term Year 4 had a lot of fun investigating owl pellets. We found out that owls regurgitate the bones and fur of small mammal that they have eaten and found many bones and quite a few skulls. We used a classification key to find out which animals the bones belonged to.
We were inspired by this Mondrian tree and created our own.
