Year Four Learn Bhangra Dancing!

Last week at HPS, we enjoyed learning how to Bhangra dance with our visitor called Vijay. He taught us that the dancing we were learning came from Northern India and was used as a celebration dance. Vijay played the beat on a dhol drum which had two different pitched end. The treble end of the drum played a high sound whilst the bass end of the drum played a low sound.

We learnt the celebration dance in beats of eights and very quickly had our whole bodies in the rhythm. Year Four showed resilience and courage whilst enjoying a style of dance which was new to many of them.

Ask your child all about their Bhangra dancing experience, we know many felt enthused and wanted to learn even more!
