This week is set to be a very busy one indeed. Whether you are off on the residential or staying here with us as HPS, we have some exciting ‘wow’ activities planned.

Remember, if you are coming to Frankie and Benny’s, make sure the office is aware of any allergies or conditions we need to know about!

It’s going to be a fabulous week!

Mrs Edwards and the year 4 team

Our first full week Fri, 21 Sep 2018 16:10:14 +0000 What a busy first full week we have had! The children have already achieved so much and are enjoying exploring their new learning opportunities. We have made lots of new friends and already started learning our first phonics sounds!

Please bring in a pair of names wellies so that the children can enjoy our mud kitchen. We have space to keep them at school if you are happy with this.

Parents Evening Mon, 17 Sep 2018 09:16:45 +0000 DATE CHANGE: To avoid a clash with St. Peter’s, HPS Parents Evening will now be on the 3rd of October.

Our topic Sun, 16 Sep 2018 19:07:09 +0000 This term, our topic in year 2 is The Great Fire of London. The children are thoroughly enjoying finding out about this historical event and we have been so impressed with what they found out during the summer as part of their summer learning challenge! This week we have been busy sequencing the events and learning about the key dates of the fire.

Watch this space for some examples of our fantastic work this term!

Poetry Week visit Fri, 14 Sep 2018 10:07:11 +0000 As a school, we have decided to celebrate National Poetry Day this year by having a poetry themed week. This will be the week beginning 1st October 2018.

We have organised an exciting opportunity for the children as part of poetry week. On the 4th October, a children’s author and poet will be visiting our school to motivate and inspire children in their creative writing.

Joshua McManus, who is the author of ‘Did the Elephant Choose His Nose? And Other Poems’ will be talking to the children about believing in their imagination and how this is key and the start of everything and anything wonderful.

Joshua has kindly offered to do a book signing during the day, therefore if you would like your child to have their very own copy signed by Joshua, please follow the link below to purchase the book. Please ensure it is delivered before this event if you want it to be signed! Your child can then bring their copy to school that day ready to be signed.

Home time Fri, 14 Sep 2018 10:02:50 +0000 A repeat of our earlier plea to year 4/5/6 parents:

At home time please wait on the playground nearest Ambury Road for your children to be brought out to you.
Please DO NOT take your children out of the queue as it moves to the playground.
Please DO NOT gather on the quad or by the black gate.

When you do this, it makes it very difficult for our teachers to know that your children have been released to the right adult. For the safety of all our children, please wait on the playground for your child’s teacher to hand over your child.

Icecream Friday! Thu, 13 Sep 2018 15:49:15 +0000 Icecream Friday is back, for one last go before we run out of hot weather! Come grab a treat tomorrow after school, in the quad.

Prices start from 50p.
