Dear class 1 and class 2,
Well done for all of the home learning photos, videos and explanations you have sent us so far. Miss Neep and I have been very impressed!
Remember to check Tapestry everyday for your English and Maths sessions. If we need to use our website page for an internet link, we will let you know this in our Tapestry posts.
Keep it up – you are bringing smiles to our faces!
This week has been STEM Week. We’ve been helping our pirate friends find a new boat, as theirs unfortunately has a hole in it!
We’ve thought about the properties of the new boat. We’ve decided it should be waterproof and that it should float on water. To find the best boat we’ve been testing all sorts of materials including: paper, wood, plastic, fabric and wool.
First we discussed which materials are waterproof. Then, we tested the materials to see if they would sink or float. We dropped the materials into a tank of water and watched closely to see if they stayed at the top of the water, or if they fell to the bottom of the tank. We’ve found some interesting results which will certainly help us find a better boat for our pirate friends!
Thank you for working with us to support your children in their phonics. Below is the presentation which was shared yesterday at our phonics for parents session. Click on the first link to download the PDF version and the second link to download the power point version.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to discuss these with your class teacher, or alternatively, come and find me (Miss Barton) at Class 1’s door.
