Safer Internet Day

We are ready for some safe R and R!  This week has been focused on safe internet identities.  We are very happy to share some of our exciting Safer Internet Day, with our very own Sarah and Vicky leading lessons and discussions on internet identity and how to remain safe and happy online.  We have also had a wonderful time learning just how being on-line may influence our future selves. Pupils worked as The Boss and scored potential employees based on their online identities, and then had to write a rejection letter explaining how a candidate’s online self has affected job prospects.

English and Maths this week have been devoted to assessments, with the English papers focusing on SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) and reasoning answers based on short stories.   The Maths assessments have also focused on reasoning and problem solving using the techniques we have learnt. Soon your child will have the opportunity to bring home their papers in order to see which areas they may want to study up on.  In Science we have completed our scientific investigation on how exercise impacts our circulatory system and heart rate. Pupils in Year 6 made predictions as to how different exercises would increase their heart rates, then conducted those experiments, collecting data.  Pupils will have plenty to do while at home, with a self-test in SATs going home as homework and also a new understanding of how to stay safe and appropriate online.
