The Gingerbread man

In English this week we’ve been exploring the story “The Gingerbread Man”. We all enjoyed the story so much and Emmanuella said “this is my favourite story ever!”  Some of us have had a go at writing the story and we’ve all spent some time thinking about how the different characters feel. Teddy thinks the Old Lady from the story is sad because she’s hungry, and Henry added “her food has run away!”

In Maths we’ve been looking closely at the numbers 6, 7 and 8. We’ve tried representing the numbers in different ways and counting out this many objects onto tens frames. We discovered that all insects have 6 legs and spiders have 8 legs but there are no creatures with 7 legs. Edward said “7 legs would be wonky.”

In science we’ve been preparing for our experiment by making predictions. Which material is the strongest? Sienna thinks bricks will be strongest, whilst Elijah thinks the sticks will be strongest. We can’t wait to see which one will survive our ‘wolf’ test!

We’re excited to explore the story “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” next week!

Covid-19 & School

Welcome to the new normal! In these strange new times school has changed a bit and there’s new ways of doing some things. We’ve put together a resource page of information and guidance about what it means for HPS.
