Welcome Back to your Online Learning

Hello Year 3

Welcome back to your online learning. We hope you have had a wonderful and restful Easter break. This week in Maths we are going to be looking at scaling. Scaling is used to describe situations in which one measurement or number is increased by fixed proportion. For example, language such as ‘double’, ‘times as many’, ‘times as large’ or ‘times as heavy’ may be used to compare the relationship between two quantities. Calculations are carried out using multiplication or repeated addition.

In English we are going to finding out about Greek Myths as our topic for this half term would have been ‘Let the Games Begin’ which would have focused on the Ancient Greeks. You are going to be reading the Greek Myth called Arachne and Athena and your aim for the end of the week will be to re-write this myth. You will be expected to demonstrate various skills including using speech marks correctly and structuring a story with a clear beginning, middle and ending.

As you did in the weeks before the Easter break, please work through the Power Points before completing the assigned work. Your weekly times tables and spelling focus has also been posted on Seesaw.

Your first project for this new term is focusing on Science. Our Science for this half term is Plants so this week I would like you to start researching parts of plants and the life cycle of a flowering plant. All flowering plants go through the same stages of life cycle. The main stages are germination, growing and flowering, pollination, fertilisation and seed dispersal. Can you design and create a way to represent the stages of the life cycle?

Good Luck Year 3 and we are looking forward to reading your responses.
