Hello Year Two!
We have been so impressed with the home learning challenges you have been completing and uploading to Seesaw – keep up the excellent work! It has also been wonderful to see you getting involved with the Joe Wicks PE challenge too! We would also like to say a huge thank you to parents and carers for your continued support!
We will continue to post daily maths and English on Seesaw for you to complete. There will be one foundation subject project which we would like you to complete by Friday of each week. This needs to be an in depth piece of work which you can present in any way you like (video, poster, book etc).
Don’t forget to keep checking the website too as we may post things on here to help support your learning!
Take good care of yourselves,
Miss Hollison and Mrs Jones
This week at Huntingdon Primary School has been our STEM week focusing on ‘our diverse planet’ and in Year Two we have really enjoyed our learning, demonstrating some excellent teamwork and resilience!
To link with our current theme ‘Carnival of the Animals’ we have explored a range of different animal related topics. In our English lessons we explored Sir David Attenborough, all of his famous work and created a timeline of his life. As part of our foundation subject learning we thought about how and why an animal camouflages and used our collage and drawing skills to create a camouflage picture. In Science we thought about micro-habitats and planned and made our own bug hotels within a team.
We all have worked extremely hard and have created some excellent learning outcomes!
Wow – what a day! We have really enjoyed World Book Day today in Year Two and have really embraced learning about our author – Dr Seuss. The children looked fantastic – a huge thank you for helping them with their amazing costumes!
We began the day by reading with our Year 6 reading buddies who were super helpful! During the week we wrote our own version of the story ‘The Cat in the Hat’ so today we created our own book front covers to go with our story which we designed and illustrated. In the afternoon we showed great teamwork skills during our ‘World Book Day quiz’ where we answered questions about a range of different books. It really was a great day!
Year Two had a fantastic time on our school trip to Shepreth Wildlife Park! When we arrived we had a meeting with a zoo keeper who told us a lot of information about what the different animals need to survive. We also got to meet some different animals, including a rat, stick insect, snail and a snake! We then walked around the park to see the different animals which were amazing! We saw a tiger up close and were fascinated by the meerkats! We heard a talk about the two red pandas that live there and the zoo keeper told us all about how they train the animals.
We were extremely sensible and all the adults felt super proud – well done Year Two!
