WBD!

What an amazing week for Year 6!  We have explored the life and influence of Ansel Adams, researched the landscape of Yosemite National Park, and used geometric shapes to identify uses in everyday life.  English lessons continued to investigate the influential life of L. Frank Baum and his wonderful novel, The Wizard of Oz. In Maths we not only discussed geometric shapes, but also practiced discovering the measurements of reflex angles.  The idea of geometry carried over to Art, where pupils decided on a photographic theme (focus, light, angle, patterns, and colour) and tried their hands at using the techniques of Ansel Adams – look for our work on SeeSaw! This week finished on a whirlwind of fun:  Year 6 celebrated World Book Day by dressing as our favourite characters from The WIzard of Oz, reading to our buddies in Year 2, a wonderful group of Year 6 pupils raised money for a local charity AND we had a winner for the Best Dressed Costume. To end this fantastic week, we had lovely visits from other year group teachers, who joined us in reading our classroom books.
